What we believe

Statement of faith

We recognize that the unity of the church universal is based solely on the person and work of Jesus and not on absolute agreement on other doctrines outside the atoning work of Jesus. While we as a local fellowship of believers understand that some believers do not agree with all of the following doctrinal beliefs, we ask that all incoming members agree with the following statement of faith:

The 66 books of the Bible are the infallible rule of faith and practice for God’s people (2 Timothy 3:16; 2 Peter 1:19-21; Revelation 22:18-19).

  • The one eternal and almighty God exists in three distinct persons – Father, Son (Jesus Christ), and Holy Spirit (Mark 1:9-11; 3:16-17; John 10:30; 14:9-10; 14:26-27).

  • Because all people are born with a sin nature and follow the path of sin and death, they are under God’s wrath apart from his saving work in Jesus Christ (Ephesians 2:1-4; Romans 5:12; 6:23; James 1:14-15).

  • People are called to eternal life by grace alone, through faith alone, in Jesus Christ alone (John 3:16; Ephesians 2:4-10; Titus 3:4-7)

  • The gospel is central to every area of life both for salvation and ongoing life transformation (Romans 1:16; Romans 12:1-2; Corinthians 5:14-17; Ephesians 4:20-24).

  • Without the work of the Holy Spirit it is impossible for people to come to Christ and impossible for people to live Christ-honoring lives (Ezekiel 36:25-27; Romans 8:1-11; Galatians 5:22-23; Ephesians 5:18).

  • God is at work sovereignly to save sinners by his grace (Romans 8:28-30; Ephesians 1:3-14).

  • The church is called to preach the gospel to everyone in order that it might make disciples and to establish churches under qualified leadership (Matthew 28:19-20; Romans 10:8-17; 2 Timothy 2:2; 1 Timothy 3:1-7).

  • Man and women are equal before God in worth and value (Genesis 1:26-27; Galatians 3:28).

  • God’s calls men in particular to lead in the home and the church after the pattern of Jesus’ servant leadership (John 13:1-11; Ephesians 5:22-33; Colossians 3:18-19; 1 Timothy 3:1-7; Titus 1:6-9; 1 Peter 3:1-7)

  • The fruit of the Spirit, embodied in a life of love towards God and others, is the manifestation of growing maturity in believers and the surest sign of true conversion for those who love Jesus (Galatians 5:22-24; 1 John 4:7-21).

  • Jesus is coming again at the end of the age. When he comes again there will be a bodily resurrection of all those who have died.  Those who have given their lives to him by faith will receive their reward and will live eternally in his presence totally separated from every vestige of sin.  Those who have rejected Jesus will receive eternal punishment as they are separated from him. (Matthew 25:31-46; John 5:28-29; Acts 24:15).

The LORD reigns, let the earth be glad; let the distant shores rejoice.
